YouTube announced to launch a “Sports Hub” and plans to stream wider coverage of live events like concerts and the like. The Sports Hub will be running in partnership with SportAccord – an sport institution, grouping about 104 “World Sports Federations, including, basketball, swimming and the Paralympics”. It is estimated that more or less 2,000 videos from various sports denominations will go live starting in the next spring.
The YouTube Sports Hub will be launched in partnership with SportAccord, the representative of institutional sport worldwide that groups together 104 World Sports Federations, including, basketball, swimming and the Paralympics.
They will be a mixture of clips and long-form content showing matches, competitions, key interviews, backstage footage and educational material.
This will be another big leap for the YouTube land and I think it will be successful – U2’s concert in October which raked over 10 million views is a perfect example.
