Prioritize Your Emails Using Gmail Priority Inbox
Posted on 09. Sep, 2010 by dimaks in Technology
Set to solve your already overwhelmed self in dealing with your voluminous emails in the inbox, Gmail Priority Inbox is here to help you “Get through your email faster” and less stressful. The tool helps you to sort out things according to importance.
How Gmail Priority Inbox works? Gmail Priority Inbox system predicts your incoming messages using the same technology that Gmail uses in combing out your spam emails. In case of a false alarm, you can help it correct its recognition algorithm by using the “importance button“. Over time, the system learns the process considering the following signals such as:
- Who sent the email (frequency of a person in sending you emails)
- What terms it includes (frequency of topics that you read over time)
- Gmail account actions that you do (replying, using stars, archiving, deleting, etc)
You can set your Gmail Priority Inbox by going to your Gmail settings > Priority Inbox. You can even use filters in deploying how your Gmail Priority Inbox behave.
Go to http://mail.google.com/mail/help/intl/en/priority-inbox.html for more detailed explanation. Meanwhile, here is a video featuring the Gmail Prioritiy Inbox.

This is a very cool and useful feature but unfortunately I use Thunderbird to access my Gmail account. I hope someone comes up with an extension that enables this feature on Thunderbird.
Btw, have you heard about Boomerang for Gmail? It’s a Firefox/Chrome extension that enables scheduled emails on Gmail. Pretty useful options that makes sorting and managing emails easy and fast.

Jaypee,
I am going to see how will it work for me.
I saw the Boomerang thing in your blog few days ago. I guess it’s worth a try. And as you posted about it, I think you did the test phase already and liked it
