Top 5 Most Downloaded Antivirus Software (as of July 2010)

I guess it is due to a long absence in taking into consideration the making of blog posts on Antivirus Software Downloads that my article on the subject sometime in 2008 got totally lost in track base on what is trending in the past months or so. That is, looking at the tally records dones by CNET.
If you saw my post on Top 5 Most Popular Antivirus Software Downloads, you would see that AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition topped the list, followed by Avira AntiVir Personal, Avast Home Edition and Norton AntiVirus 2009 being the fifth.
Now, if you take a look at the current list of CNET, you would see almost the same picture, wherein we got AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition on the top spot, followed by Avira, Avast, Norton and Avast Pro (update only):
- AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
- Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus
- Avast Free Antivirus
- Norton AntiVirus Definitions Update (i32 Package)
- Avast Pro Antivirus
So AVG still reigns according to the list above, as per top downloads list. Beat this — 300,226,373 downloads, with 1,470,035 during the last week alone. For now AVG’s latest version is 9.0.839, which was added on June 24, 2010.
Pretty impressive! But unless sudden change of mind due to extremely convincing facts about AVG Anti-Virus appear before my eyes, I am staying with Avast, running side by side with Zone Alarm firewall.
