2010 GA6 is the newly found asteroid and is calculated to swing by the planet earth, via the moon’s orbit, on Thursday, at 7:06 p.m. EDT (2306 GMT).
2010 GA6 is a small rock that is about 71 feet (22 meters) wide and was discovered by astronomers in Tucson, Arizona. NASA told that there is nothing to worry, as the asteroid will not hit the Earth, hence the planet is safe. Moreover, at the time when the said foreign object will swing close by, it will be about 223,000 miles (359,000 km) away from the Earth, which is estimatedly “about nine-tenths the distance between Earth and the moon“. The 2010 GA6 is not a new asteroid to have come by the planet Earth. Sometime in January this year, a certain 2010 AL30 also passed by at 80,000 miles (130,000 km) distance. (Yahoo News)
