To send at least one Pinoy Cyclist in 2012 Olympics is the ultimate goal of both PhilCycling and Roadbike Seven-Eleven Philippines officials.
In view of the above goal, the Philippines is sending a 10-rider squad in the six-stage Tour of Thailand.
It can be remembered that in 1992 Barcelona Games, a Filipino Olympian in the person of Bert Oconer competed in cycling event. Roadbike Philippines race director Ric Rodriguez hopes that somebody would follow the footsteps of the said athlete, who is now busy in his coaching career.
These are the members of the Philippine team to join the six-day bikefest in Thailand.
- Two-time Tour ng Pilipinas champion Victor Espiritu
- Veteran internationalist Lloyd Reynante
- 2009 Tour of Luzon winner John Mark Lexer Guevarra, Baler Ravina, Sherwin Carrera, Merculio Ramos, Ericson Obosa, Renato Sembrano
- Under-23 riders Nikko Cortez and Mark Rhome Antonio
- Analiza Dysangco – the lone female cyclist
Good luck to the said potential participants in the up and coming 2012 Olympics / London games.
