This mock poll was produced as a way to encourage the students to exercise of their right to suffrage, given the fact that most of them today show some level of indifference. Quoting Rainier Sidayen, Stand UP executive committee chairman;
They always reason out that their votes won’t change the government system anyway, so (they ask themselves) why vote?”
In the afternoon today, the students were briefed on how to use the online voting portal. The students will be given the chance to virtually vote for the position such as presidential, vice presidential, senatorial and party-list candidates. The voters will be represented by their student number. This Online Open Mock Polls in UP will be running until the midnight of march 23, 2010. The voting station is located at the Vinzons Hall Lobby of the university.
