Taro Aso, New Japan Prime Minister

Well, Japan had just gotten its new Prime Minister – Taro Aso (麻生太郎). He won a landslide vote over his opponents including Yuriko Koike, known as the first woman to ever run for Japan’s highest political political position. Taro Aso – a 68 year old outspoken nationalist and a known fan of Anime characters is the 92nd Prime Minister of Japan. He is the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, which he assumed in 1996. Aso, a Roman Catholic, was born in Iizuka, Fukuoka, served a Minister of Foreign Affairs October 31, 2005 – August 27, 2007.
Prime Minister Taro Aso assumed office on September 24, 2008.
