PNOY’s First State of the Nation Address (2010)

On Monday next week (July 26), President Noynoy Aquino will be delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA 2010) at the Batasang Pambansa complex. The public speech will start from 4:00 PM and as this will be a grand national event, another significant pivots and landmarks will be pinned for the whole Philippine nation. During these times, one thing reverberates in my mind – protest.
As Bayan secretary-general Renato Reyes hinted out, Noynoy still got a room to improve the relation between the protesting public and his administration by improving on the situation during the Arroyo’s SONA in 2001 where BAYAN group were allowed to gather at the corner of Batasan Road and Commonwealth Avenue. This time around, Pnoy may permit the group to gather beside the Batasan Complex.
The SONA 2010 is indeed a huge event in the Philippine history. It is a venue where the republic’s president declare his/her overall insights and plans for the whole nation. As it is a “State of the Nation Address“, people will be hearing how the president takes on the multi-faceted issues and concerns engulfing the country.
During President Noynoy Aquino’s State of the Nation Address, there will be a great swarm of around 10,000 cops, deployed at various strategic areas in the metropolitan. Some 4,500 of them are members of anti-riot squads to secure the Batasan Complex.
With all my curiosities on how the President will address the nation’s very complex issues, I am particularly keen on hearing how he would approach the deteriorating transportation traffic and environment, parallel to the overstressed calling of the government’s corrupt aura, runners and performance.
Since this day was declared as a holiday, I will be hoping to watch Noynoy Aquino SONA 2010 live stream video coverage.
