Planning to Work in Macau While on Tourist Visa? Be Warned!

While many of you maybe planning to work in Macau while on tourist visa, a warning was given by the Labor Secretary Marianito Roque, that it is no longer that easy to land a job in the region, due to a certain local bill. This is based on a report released by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Macau.
Effective April 26, the new restriction bill passed by Macau, aiming to safeguard local employment and restrict the hiring of migrant workers, was set to full observance.
So if you have been entertaining the thoughts of going to Macau for the above reason, you maybe risking something big. Beware of illegal recruiters too! The best thing to consider is going or inquiring at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) first to verify the legality and surety aspects.
I think tourism related jobs got a booming trend in Macau, given the fact that in 2009, POEA deployed about 7,000 OFWs to Macau who were employed in the said sector.
