Photos: Construction at Mindanao Avenue – Quirino Highway Intersection
Posted on 11. Dec, 2009 by dimaks in News
A few days ago, I posted about the on-going construction being done at Mindanao Avenue – Quirino Highway Intersection and hinted out on the gravely affected vehicle and pedestrian flow in the area. The following day, I was able to bring with me my digicam and took several snaps. It could have been more revealing and interesting if the photos were taken from a higher location and on varying time sections of the day. But anyway, just to give you an idea on what’s going on in the area, hence the photos I posted here. Please find below:

North direction: Bayan, Novaliches / South: Talipapa area, Sangandaan, Caloocan / East: Mindanao Ave.

Vehicles coming from Talipapa bound for Bayan and Minanao Avenue

Deep excavations and heavy equipments at the C5 side / concrete barriers for the vehicles bound for Mindanao Avenue

A jeepney maneuvering an illegal U-turn to pass the traffic choke point, few meters ahead

Vehicles coming out of the choke point

Note that things are far worse during the morning and afternoon peak hours. The time when people are going to work or school in the morning and bound for home from around 5pm towards 9pm. During those torture times, you may expect a variable 3 minutes stop and go movement of vehicle for just about 3 meters or so distance. Your used to be 1 minute trip may become a packing 1 hour.

Even the staff and talents who work for ABC-TV5 also complain about this traffic jam, so they are forced to take Commonwealth > SM Fairview > Quirino > Nova Bayan going to Channel 5 (which is a bit longer yet less congested route).

Mark,
Hi.. thanks for dropping by!
that is sad to know. if only there is a good alternative and advisory prior to the construction, i think things could have been better especially for the motorists.
