For those of you who are in Japan and would like to witness the All-Time-Amazing Japan Fireworks Competition in Tsukuba, aka Tsuchiura Hanabi (Fireworks in Japanese) the event is scheduled today, October 4 (Saturday) from 6pm til 8:30pm. The Fireworks Display will be conducted at Tsuchiura City, Gakuen Oohashi Area, right on the banks of Sakura-Gawa.
This All Japan Fireworks Showdown is known to bring together the finest arts and styles of fireworks craftsmen from all over Japan. It is said that every year, more than 20,000 batches of fireworks lit the skies of Tsuchiura City and a close to 100k people come to gaze upon the fantastic sky show.
Just about 2 years ago, during my first year in Tsukuba, the main street leading to the Fireworks Show Venue was all jammed up, to the point that other spectators were forced to park their cars on the sides of the rice fields. And yes, Japanese people really take time to enjoy the event and so some of them even brought cooking utensils and did some barbecue and stuff.
Foreigners as well flock to this yearly Fireworks Show in Tsuchiura City.
Anyway, I hope the weather will be fine all along today.
