Back to Office Work
Posted on 31. Oct, 2009 by dimaks in Life
I came back to my usual office work a few months ago, on May to be exact and I can see a rather quite alarming occurrence pertaining to my health. My waistline is expanding and I seem to have gained a few pounds. Well, most of you know how things go when you work 8 hours in an office. You are to endure the pangs of torture coming from your daily office assignments. More or less, you are sitting on your chair, typing and editing some documents, flipping over some E-book pages and drafting some of your future write ups. There is also the occasional segments where you get to stand and interact with your office mates for some administrative matters. But the most part is spent sitting.
Right now, I am thinking of dedicating an hour or two for a jog after office hours. For sure, weight loss products are quick resort but it will be better if I go natural, right? I do have another option though – go to the gym near our apartment during Saturdays and Sundays. But I am kind of squeezing the budget in so I would have to think about it. Why is it like this – gaining weight looks so easy and fast while losing weight seem to take a grand campaign to achieve?
I have here a few list of office exercise tips from motleyhealth dot com for us to try. Let’s see!
- Take the stairs
- Squeeze stress balls
- Do the aeroplane exercise
- Ankle Circles – done by lifting feet off the floor and drawing a circle with the toes.
- Foot Pumps – both heels on the floor and point feet upward as high as you can.
- Knee Lifts – done by lifting the leg with knee bent while contracting your thigh muscle.
- Neck Roll – ear dropped to the shoulder and gently roll neck forward and back, holding each position about five seconds.
- Knee to Chest – this exercise is performed by bending forward slightly and clasping the hands around the left knee and hug it to your chest.
- Forward Flex – this is done with both feet on the floor and stomach held in, slowly bend forward and walk your hands down the front of your legs toward your ankles.
- Shoulder Roll – this is a hunch of shoulders forward, then upward, then backward, and downward, using a gentle circular motion.
I am going to try the above list starting Monday and let’s see the result.

Dimaks, haha I didn’t know you’re a weight-conscious too. Why not get a Dura Disc for your office chair, it helps your posture, your lower back and can also use to stretch your ankles and hamstrings. It can also use many for lower body parts.
I know, it does not help you lose weight but it’s still an exercise to tone down your body, so it’s a mini cardio machine.
