Today is Blog Action Day

Today, October 15 is Blog Action Day and the theme is “Climate Change“. For the longest time that I lurked away from blogging, I think it is an honorable call to make a comeback post pertaining to the beloved environment. There is no denying that we are now facing the repercussions of what we did to mother nature and it is now coming back to us with unfortunate events. For all we know, these are our faults and we made them. I don’t need to mention the fresh visitors Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng, which claimed quite a lot of lives, devastated precious homes and taken away foods from our tables.
How long can we endure calamities such as these? Until when are we going to ignore proper waste management and disposal? How long are we going to toss away that tiny plastic candy wrapper into the manholes? How long are we suppose to sacrifice nature for the sake of uncoordinated developments and without proper planning and mitigation measures? As the famous line goes, “The answer lies in your hands”.
These are the things that we practice at home, in hope to at least reduce electricity consumption and so do energy.
- Unplug unused electrical appliances or units
- Install electrical units properly and strategically, in a way that their use are maximized
- Make sure that those machines or electric units are clean always so that they can function properly and efficiently (The same goes for your precious cars out there).
- Use energy saving lights / bulbs
We might not be able to reap the fruits of our labor but our generation will. As Mother Jones has to say, Fix the Climate, or the Kid Gets It.
