    Maguindanaoan Muslim Living in the Philippines? Are you one of those who want a separate statehood or the total separation of Mindanao as a country from the Philippines?

    –I just don’t like the idea of honoring King Philip for the rest of my life. -dimaks

    ::::
    I haven’t have a Muslim friend… but i do not see Muslim people in a very bad light. I have learned to appreciate different religious beliefs since the day I could remember. for one thing I had had bible studies with Jehovah’s Witnesses since the beginning of time until Sophomore High. And i have a lot of Born Again christians and INC friends. I am a Baptized Aglipayan, but I go to Roman catholic churches. Nevertheless, It would be cool for me to see a Mosque since i haven’t seen one.

    i’ve had muslim friends and was lucky to have entered a high school that respects all beliefs. during our baccalaureate mass during our HS grad, we had an imam, a priest and a pastor. and i very much appreciated that. your list is a good one. i especially agree to no. 3. as they say, “we are the happiest people in face of the earth.”

    I know what you mean regarding the term “Filipino”. As you’ve said, it’s a political term. For lack of a better term, it’s all we’ve got unfortunately. There are different cultures within the Pinoy umbrella but I suppose we also share similarities. I, myself, am half-Igorot, and Igorots in the Cordilleras often consider themselves different from the other Pinoys and vice versa. So i suppose I agree with you in renaming the meme into “things to be proud of as a CITIZEN of the Philippines.” :D

    regarding the meme itself, i agree that we Pinoys… ummm…. Philippine citizens, I mean, often see humor during dark times. I suppose it’s a way of coping with the sad times in life.

    This is true, Dimaks. Alam mo, Filipinos are very much open-minded individuals. How else will you explain the variety in religions in the country? Ibig sabihin lang, whatever you believe in, we respect.

    Tapos yung sense of belongingness, ganyan tayo eh. Example, when someone visits us (sa bahay or work) we make sure that visitor feels welcome.

    And sa humor, number one nga yata yan eh! :)

    Happy Thursday, Dimaks!

    The Philippines is composed of more than 7,000 islands and so there are lots of differences among us ourselves. But we are living in a country known as Philippines and we are called Filipinos. Much as we individually do not like it, we are helpless. We have to accept the internationally known Philippines as our country and as an inhabitant of the Philippines is called Filipino, then we’ve got no alternative but to be called Filipinos also known as Pinoys.

    Anyway, Filipinos are generally good and we have many things to be proud of as Filipinos. Yes, I agree with those 3 things and there are more. We are much better than people in other countries in intelligence and industry, I mean Filipinos are industrious and hardworking.

    Already heard? LOL! I am a translator of the Holy Bible from Greek to English. Where in the world can you find a solo translator of the Holy Bible? No staff/personnel, no money, etc. But there’s nothing impossible to God. I must be crazy if I can’t show proof. I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and other books shown at

    http://www.lulu.com/arseniajoaquin

    Those who claim to have doctoral degrees in Theology, etc. and claim to know and understand Greek and even Hebrew have not published any translation and just keep on criticizing the various versions of the Holy Bible circulating around the world which are admitted to be 80% not translations. Why don’t they present their own translations to show that they know what they are talking about?

    I hope you find time to visit the books and see for yourself and say whatever… Although I am a servant of God in a universal scope, I still say that I AM PROUD OF BEING A FILIPINO…

    Salamat, dimaks. Now I think I understand a little why some of us people in Mindanao prefer to ’separate’ with the rest of the country– is that like ‘federalism’ in America?

    But then, if you call yourself the Maguindanaoan Muslim, and I’m not a Muslim but I’m from Mindanao, how do I call myself?
