So, what you’ve been told?
Posted on 25. Nov, 2007 by dimaks in Life
Time and again, I have been watching this episode of a TV series entitled “Sleeper Cell“. The insights in it are just too good to be realized and embodied the right way. All I can say is, If Only… if only things are shown and taught the right way. if only the real pictures were shown.
Sleeper Cell is a one-hour drama on the Showtime network that began airing on December 4, 2005. The tagline for the first season was “Friends. Neighbors. Husbands. Terrorists.” and the tagline for the second season was “Cities. Suburbs. Airports. Targets.” In the UK, Sleeper Cell has been shown on FX (UK) and on Channel 4 Terrestrial TV. The series was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Miniseries.
The eight-episode second season of the series, titled Sleeper Cell: American Terror, premiered on December 10, 2006. Both seasons of Sleeper Cell were originally aired in an unusual fashion, by filming the entire season ahead of time and then airing the episodes on consecutive nights, such that each brand new season was aired for the first time over a period of less than two weeks. I once got really curious about Islam and wanted to read the Koran. Unfortunately, the sacred book is exclusive only to Islam. Disappointing, really. But then I guess I just have to respect that law.
The name “Sleeper Cell” sort of reminds me of the video game “Splinter Cell”. Honestly, I thought it’s somewhat related.

This is so edifying, Dimaks. I guess it is so easy to misinterpret the concept of the Holy War. To mistake it for aggression that would kill and maim even the innocent. I like what was said: we must fight the evil within us. So true for all of us, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, HIndis, etc.

Arlo,
thanks for dropping by. if somebody told you about the exclusivity of the Quran then things might have been misinterpreted. to the best of my knowledge, you can read the Quran too. you can even find an online version.
annamanila,
sad really, false generalization sprouts from such kind of misinterpretation of the teachings, which can be found in various religious denominations i guess.

It’s not Islam, it is some of the people within the group just like in Christianity. I have come to a point where I have come to understand every religion.. not exactly their doctrines and all but respecting what they believe.
may similarities daw ung teachings ng Islam at Christians? that’s what I heard..

that’s an interesting video clip. I’m skeptical whether that tv show would ever air here in the US though.

Gypsy,
well as the information page says it so. it’s done in series but perhaps some copies in dvds are already out there.
tina,
can’t agree more with you. it’s sad actually when you get branded for the wrong doings of others. and yes, wrongdoers exist in all religious denominations.
it’s great that you hold such a viewpoint on religions as a whole. similarities? i think the main root of them is that, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them both) descended from father Abraham (on who be peace).
verns,
i think it’s a good watch.
right on verns, good luck
Wil,
no idea Wil, but the fact is, some clips are already around the internet, though I can only find a few of them via youtube.
