How do you say “Good Luck” in Japanese? With the help of my good friend, Babel Fish from Altavista (http://babelfish.altavista.com), he told me to say: よい運!

    Jaypee,
Next to this Japanese, I want to learn Spanish too :) hmm, I heard Spanish is what’s more likely to be demanded if you intend to work in an international organization or company. So, there is a bright catch there :) — Thanks.

Yakang yaka ni Maksdi yan. Me no worry. So you no worry too. Me worrying over your Pareng Prab. Do you have a telephone number? Wala ring sagot sa email nya eh.

When you deliver your speech, just don’t forget to bow low 2 times before and after Then maybe you end with bansai-mabuhay. Joke.

    Sige, good luck.

    annamanila,
Sorry po, I hold no contact of Prab other than his blog site. I hope he’s doing fine.

re: speech; I am trying to learn that bow thing hehe. Sa atin kasi, konting nod lang bow na yun. Thanks for the luck, I will be delivering the speech this coming friday.

Spanish is very useful and gives you an advantage especially if you live or work here in California because of the large Hispanic population. Aside from Spanish, Chinese would be the best language to learn if you’re into business. :)

    Jaypee,
Hmm, at any case, I think learning another language a very good investment itself :)

Wow. Huge scores. Bet you were an A-lister even then. :D

Babel Fish of Altavista says, お祝い! It’s supposed to mean ‘Congratulations!’ but when I translated it back to English, it said, ‘Celebration!’ Hahah. I didn’t know Babel was a mind-reader, too! Hahahaahahahh. :P Either way, congratulations to you. :)

    Elaine,
When Japanese greets you “congratulations” they say “Omedetou” but in dictionary, there are “Keishaku” けいしゅく and “Keiga” けいが both mean congratulation :)

Babel has the tendency to give out weird results in translation.. much more with the grammar. Thanks by the way!

So, how did it go? I’m sure ginulat mo yung teacher sa galing mo.. hehehe… What’s teacher in Nihonggo by the way?

  22. dimaks

    rhodora,
the test went fine :) the teachers here have the tendency to over-praise the students, or maybe its just how they show their kind of appreciation and encouragement. So, if you don’t have any idea of this attitude, you would also tend to get over-self confident :) Teacher in nihonggo is “sensei”. Teacher rhodora would be rhodora sensei hehehe.

    annamanila,
they are adjusting to the climate as usual. the past week was a bit hard becuase they both (actually including me but i must not get sick) caught cough, as spring is known here for its infamous allergy phenomenon due to the pollens. but they are getting better now, i hope.
