Explaining Natural Process to a 5 Year Old

In Japan there are a lot of aged people and my son always notice them in public places like the hospitals, malls, bus terminal and restaurants. When we talk about growing old he always become sad and afraid, he doesn’t want me and his mom to get older. He said you’ll get ugly lines in your faces like those that I see with the Ojisan (Oldman) and Obasan (Oldwoman) out there. And whenever he see some TV commercials about wrinkle creams he tells us to buy one so we won’t have those wrinkles. He himself is also afraid to get older and he seemed to have stressed himself from thinking what will going to happen as time goes on. So we tell him that it is just natural for people to eventually get older. And we told him that it’s rather unpleasant if he doesn’t grow taller while his age advances. Due to constant explaining he learned to accept that people do grow old and he should not be afraid of it being a natural process for human beings.
