Are You a Believer of the Mozart Effect?
Posted on 12. May, 2010 by dimaks in Life, News
Are you one of the believers of the “Mozart Effect“? Did you really believe that listening to Mozart can increase or boost your intelligence? Perhaps this phenomenon was able to live for a very long time and now, we got a new claim from a 15-years study done by a team from Vienna University’s Faculty of Psychology.
Listening to Mozart does not increase intelligence..
The team from Vienna University’s Faculty of Psychology reviewed the related studies to the claim suggested in 1993 and found no proof of duplicability.
Listening to Mozart to increase intelligence could be a myth.
Those who listened to music, Mozart or something else – Bach, Pearl Jam – had better results than the silent group. But we already knew people perform better if they have a stimulus
Said Jakob Pietschnig, who led the study team from Vienna. And he added:
I recommend everyone listen to Mozart, but it’s not going to improve cognitive abilities as some people hope

Actually many experts agree that listening to Classical music increases concentration and it somehow soothes the brain to focus and concentrate.
Personally, Nakikinig ako sa Classical pag nag aaral o hindi kaya kng gusto kong matulog.
It was actually effective nung nag review ako sa board exams.

Kimwell,
that’s what i have been reading about. i tried listening to classical music during my study times in college but i can’t seem to concentrate better. i prefer no music at all, usually during dawn.
parang nadi-divide ang attention ko pag may music.

I also find it easier to study during dawn pero with no music, Usually I just listen to music when I study during afternoons to combat sleepiness.

IMO, classical music has a calming effect, makes one more contemplative and thus makes one think more clearly. So in a way, he or she becomes smarter.
