2008 Beijing Olympics Updates: Japan vs USA Softball

America’s dominant campaign in softball was ended by Japan in the final round.
Dating back in 1996, the United States had won all the gold medals in softball and known to have beaten 22 consecutive opponents until the year 2000. Moreover, USA was able to outscore its opponents in 2008 by 57-2 record.
Sad to note that: “The sport has been removed from the Olympic program in 2012, and maybe beyond, meaning that many, if not all, of the well-known players on American team have ended their Olympic careers on a sour and lasting note.” (The nytimes.com)
