Ever inquisitive
Posted on 24. Jan, 2008 by dimaks in Life
From the very start of his days here in Japan, he has always been so curious of almost everything around. He never fails to ask me in every occasion – while on-board a bus, walking along the roadside, buying foods in the supermarket and even while crossing the road. Have I not been holding his hand carefully, he would have slipped away, stopped in the middle of the road and asked me what was that written at the rear part of the car.
Inside the university, the buses plying around have its designated pre-recorded voice over explaining about the places of bus stops along with the safety cautions and all. Every time a voice over is played, Kito would repeatedly ask me, “daddy, what did the voice say?” ..”what does she mean?” And I got not no choice but to cater a very young and curious mind. I am not yet versatile with the Japanese language so sometimes, I had to come up with a decent answer.. at least to the best of my understanding. He asks about the meaning of those writings in and outside the buses, road signs and markings, colors (yes, why is it green, blue, so and so), and even why an old man is crossing the street. I also have to be very attentive to him because he gets angry if he had to repeat the same question again and again. Sometimes, I was like talking to myself by saying, “ok, now this sounds like one of my laboratory seminars where the professors throw questions incessantly“. Comes watching tv at home, I seem to have gotten a part-time job – translator ..hehe.
Here is Kito, with his head resting on my thigh, watching the horizon ahead, just behind the Tsukuba University Hospital. We had to come here for his sudden cough, but unfortunately there has to be an appointment before you get checked by the appropriate physician. So we needed to move to Tsukuba Medical Center.

A few minutes passed while waiting for the bus to come, the sunset horizon looked liked this. Kito told me to take a photo of it, so I did.

With all those seemingly endless questions from Kito, my level of patience is getting tested everyday, and I get to review my stock knowledge on things, especially my Japanese vocabulary.
I wonder if things will be the same when my 4-years old son turns 5
Anyways.. stages they must be.

It’s good to know that you’re finally reunited with your family. I know how you missed them so much. Btw, nice photos.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Remember the thing we talked about? I’m gonna make a decision in the next couple of weeks or maybe sooner and I’ll let you know as soon as I’ve done it, ok?

verns,
halos ganyan talaga ang nangyayari. kagabi tanong nya saken while watching x-men 2, “bakit may apoy ang kamay ni pyro?” kasunod ang napakaraming follow-up questions.
Jaypee,
