Almost stolen bicycle

You see, few months ago, we thankfully received this small second-hand bicycle from a friend’s friend for our son Kitô. He was so excited with the toy and even tried so hard to learn cycling without the side training wheels, and he learned so fast in just a day of self struggle.
After that, he has been enjoying cycling within the vicinity of our dormitory, together with some neighbor’s kids. While Kitô gets to play with these kids, we cannot help but worry on certain things. These kids are quiet rascal at times. They have been repeatedly and forcefully borrowing Kitô’s bicycle. They are lucky because my son is not trained the way they behave. So almost always, Kitô ends up swapping his toys with theirs while enjoying the supposed good company.
Until one afternoon, I, with the assistance of Wifey decided to paint and beautify Kitô’s bike with a red flame design. He liked it of course – It’s been his repeated request. We then brought the bicycle upstairs to dry up the paint fast and safe in our veranda. After a week, Kitô went down with it, proudly showing up the newly painted and designed ride. The night came and it was time to call it a day. Tied the bike with a cable lock. Came the next day, the bike was missing. Weird. Was the lock picked by the kids? Hmn, assisted by an adult perhaps? The lock was also missing along with the bike. After searching here and there, I found it at the back of the dormitory car parking area, under the trees, lying on the ground with its handle bar detached. Here is how it looked like:
This is how the cable lock looks like. You have to know the four-number combination code in order to unlock it. So the kids sawed it? Funny really.
Of course i got pissed and disappointed at the same time. Imagine kids as young as 4-5 years old stealing things. How much more if they grow up.
After fixing the bike, I thought of locking the bike more secure so this is what I did – it’s now locked with Wifey’s foldable. Let’s see if those kids can still pick this one. They have to be so tough to take this, lol. Good luck kiddos!

[...] unattended, or perhaps with a cheap lock on it. Dont live by the notion that your teeny weeny bicycle cannot get stolen. Better be safe than sorry. [...]
