Preparation for the showdown
With barely a few days left before the official commencement of the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, the delegates from the different participating nations are now all efforts in preparing for the final go.

200paralympicMedals Ahead of that, the medal designers no other than the Beijing Arts and Crafts Group were kind of anxious to show the medals to the public, in spite of the fact that they took days and nights of brainstorming just to come up with a set of medals that are of sure authenticity and value. In the 28th (Monday) of July, the 3,000 Beijing Paralympic medals were delivered safely from Shanghai to Beijing under the watchful guardianship of some armed policemen.

The Olympic and Paralympic medals are gold inlaid with jade, but with slight differences in terms of jade placement - “Olympic medals have their jade parts showing on the back, while Paralympic medals have their jade parts showing on the front” the Official 2008 Beijing Paralympics Website said in one of its news. The turn over of the 2008 Beijing Paralympics official medals was graced by the following speakers:
1. Tang Xiaoquan - Vice-president of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and executive
2. Guo Tailai - Board chairman of Beijing Arts and Crafts Grou
3. Ping Yali - Chinaç—´ first Paralympic gold medalist
