Tsuchiura Hanabi

These are the photos I took during the Hanabi in Tsuchiura last October 14, 2006. Hanabi is the Japanese term for fireworks, while Tsuchiura is located in the southern part of Ibaraki Prefecture and faces Lake Kasumigaura, the second largest lake in Japan. The city lies adjacent to the Tsukuba Science City metropolitan area.
I heard, the event was famous in the entire of Japan, and no doubt it was. When we were about a few hundred meters away from the fireworks site, lots of cars were parked along the roadside already. Some spectators even brought grilling pans and other cooking stuffs and did bbqs and ramen.
Enjoy the photos taken with my humble newbie shooting skill using my humble Olympus FE-180. Good thing I was able to barrow a tripod and took the photos comfortably. I was even laughing at my initial shots taken without a tripod – they looked like abstract paintings.

Nice, I love fireworks! I’ve been wanting to visit Tsukuba but never had the chance. Maybe I’ll try again once we visit our relatives in Tokyo. Great shots though.

Wow, I was there, I only caught the last 30 minutes of it cuz I had to work til 8pm, but what I saw was awesome. Ah…..natsukashi yo. Also, for those taking the train to Tsuchiura, you can take it from Ueno to Tsuchiura using the Joban line. And from there, follow the Sakuramachigawa.
