pacman_delahoya The Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De La Hoya (Pacquiao vs De La Hoya) fight has been on serious highlights lately. Now, the heat is On! The Pacquiao vs De La Hoya match will be on December 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Both parties confirmed that the said fight will be a 12-rounder, non-title match at 147-pound welterweight category. The camps of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya came through a series of negotiations to come up to a final decision for this fight.

Said De La Hoya, “Manny Pacquiao is considered the best fighter in boxing today and I always want to fight the best“.

Is this a fight bearing a heavy weight on Golden Boy’s contribution in the continuous protests on the canvass by the Mexicans against the Mexicutioner Pacman? Time will tell actually. The MGM canvass will take heavy notes on this history in the making - the fight between the Golden Boy (of Mexican origin) and the Mexicutioner Manny Pacquiao.

The contest will be a memorable benchmark in both fighter’s boxing career history.

De La Hoya, who has won titles in six different weight classes, insists he can’t wait for the challenge and has even pushed thoughts of retirement to the back of his mind.

I am glad we were able to make this fight happen because while Pacquiao is at the pinnacle of his success and has defeated all of the top fighters he has faced, I am going to show the world that it stops with me.

December 6 can’t get here soon enough.

While Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35 KO) is recognized by most as the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer, he has yet to prove so many things with this fast pace ascension to higher weight categories. Isn’t he going too fast up there? For sure, the world has witnessed how he rallied with his amazing speed during the tremendous Pacman-Diaz campaign but this time with De La Hoya (39-5-0, 30 KO) is definitely a bit of different story. Pacman has to gain additional 12 lbs for the agreed 147 lbs welterweight fight. On the other side, De La Hoya will have to tone down to around 7 lbs from his present 154 lbs weight.

Pacman believes that so far, this fight with De La Hoya will be the biggest in his career.

This is my greatest challenge,” said Pacquiao. “When I take that walk to the ring to fight Oscar, I will carry all the people of The Philippines - the entire country - on my shoulders.

I promise I will fight with all of my heart and that I will give everything I have. Like my trainer Freddie Roach says, I have what it takes to win the biggest fight of my life.

I am faster and stronger than him and I’m also younger. He’s bigger in height but I feel I’m stronger and it’s going to be a great fight.” (Source)

Bob Arum planned ahead for this Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao fight. Aside from his pondering over Pacman’s possible match with unified champion Nate Campbell, the promoter thought of many possible things to happen, which included a fight against the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya.
