WordPressers! You can now Download WordPress 3.3 via WordPress portal or execute the upgrade within your dashboards. The latest version of system files are now available, bringing a bunch of great refineries in design and functionality. This time around, WordPress 3.3 is named as “Sonny” in honor of the great jazz saxophonist Sonny Stitt.

Since its version 3.0 release, WordPress have gotten quite a gigantic figure of downloads from bloggers all across the globe. For this new version of the blogging platform WordPress, significant additions were made, especially in the navigation, file uploading and also importing.

To elaborate quite further on the new features of WordPress in 3.3 version, a user can find the new drag-and-drop uploader tool, “hover menus for the navigation, the new toolbar, improved co-editing support, and the new Tumblr importer.” Moreover, for the iPads and other tablet based users out there, the touch support has also been improved.

WordPress 3.3 “Sonny” also came with some cool gifts for the developers. They can now hover onto the enhanced system by exploring the new editor API;

new jQuery version, better ways to hook into the help screens, more performant post-slug-only permalinks, and of course the entire list of improvements on the Codex and in Trac.

As a WordPress blogging platform user  for about 3 years now, I am very anxious to know what are the things out there in a much detailed point of view. But I am not going to upgrade anytime yet – I would love to hear first, comments and feedback from those who did already. I don’t want to go through the same experience again, back when I tried to install WordPress 2.6 in rushed fashion. I even tagged it as one of the issues in installing WordPress upgrades, but then again, I was able to resolve the woes in the end.
