Update: Just a quick reminder – BACK UP EVERYTHING of your blog before implementing the upgrade, to avoid big time headache and regrets in the end.

WordPress 2.6 is now officially out for download as announced by Matt yesterday, July 15th. The newest and solid release, dubbed as “Tyner”, a jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, contains a line up of new features that make WordPress a more powerful Content Management System (CMS). According to Matt, this new release allows tracking of changes to every post and page and easy posting from wherever you maybe on the web. There is also a dozen of incremental refinements to the features highlighted in version 2.5.

On similar notes, Ryan Boren further discusses WordPress 2.6′s inclusion of a better support for visiting the admin over SSL. Part of it involves making sure that authorization cookies are delivered only over SSL-encrypted HTTPS sessions.
