Update: Just a quick reminder – BACK UP EVERYTHING of your blog before implementing the upgrade, to avoid big time headache and regrets in the end.
WordPress 2.6 is now officially out for download as announced by Matt yesterday, July 15th. The newest and solid release, dubbed as “Tyner”, a jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, contains a line up of new features that make WordPress a more powerful Content Management System (CMS). According to Matt, this new release allows tracking of changes to every post and page and easy posting from wherever you maybe on the web. There is also a dozen of incremental refinements to the features highlighted in version 2.5.
On similar notes, Ryan Boren further discusses WordPress 2.6’s inclusion of a better support for visiting the admin over SSL. Part of it involves making sure that authorization cookies are delivered only over SSL-encrypted HTTPS sessions.

I friggin hate it. I hate this constant upgrade – it’s just a pain the ass.
What exactly do we need to upgrade? The entire files? It’s annoying to see that “upgrade now to 2.6″ As much as I’d want to ignore it, I can’t help but TRY-TO update. I hope there’s no bugs. I want 2.3 back. Daaayummm!

Guess what, after I upgraded, I have hundreds of errors and my site is now EMPTIFIED. No theme exists in my dashboard, plugins went missing. Now I can’t access.
I think I need to delete my blog.

I still haven’t upgraded yet either. I keep seeing posts of people having issues.
I think I will wait for a few more days.

K,
I sympathize with you. I should have stressed further the note on making a back up of everything before upgrading to WP 2.6. I have updated this post and added the very important notice.
Mon,

sasha,

Geoserv,
hello and welcome! i guess i am doing the same. it would help a lot if we hear feedbacks from those who upgraded already.

I made another clean upgrade. It seemed to be running slightly ok except that the theme editor doesn’t work really well. Some people are still having issues with the admin log-in, browser cache is the culprit. Even if I tried to clear the cookies and cache, I’m still experiencing errors. It’s quite a bit of a hassle.
Well, I finally had it back, hopefully. I’m using a new theme without the widgets as some plugin didn’t work.
I’m feeling like a newbie all over again.
