I mean, real life fire.

I was advised by Jaypee to sign up for Entrecard, (a blogging network site where you create your 125×125 pixel graphic business card for rotation across the Entrecard community) a couple of days ago and have it running in my blog site for added exposure. After being convinced, I decided to access the site and attempted to sign up for an account. Upon entering all the data required by the registration form, this is what I got:

Serious error

We have a bug in our software, an automatic report has been sent to our developers and more whips are being applied as we speak. We apologise for the inconvenience. (Source: Google cache)

I did the attempts for several times, and even asked Jaypee to sign up on my behalf but still nothing happened. Our suspects were, cookies setting or maybe our browsers. I then tried Internet Explorer; the same result. Only to know this morning, or maybe I was the only late-informed being for this matter, that there was a fire at Entrecard’s data center.

There was a fire at our datacenter resulting in the failure of some of our systems, our database server appears to be offline still, we’re working on it and we’re really sorry about the issues at this time. more information arriving shortly.

Update: The outage is pretty serious, you can read more about the datacenter fire at ThePlanet forums. They’ve got teams of people there and they’re working through the night. We have no ETA at this time, very sorry.

So, there you have it! To those of you who have been trying to sign up for an account and experienced the same, don’t fret, keep in tune and hopefully the system will be back into full operation soon.

My avatar is ready an waiting!

And by the way, for reference, this site gives very good overview of Entrecard. And also here.
