Working Abroad and Online Job Searches
Posted on 01. Nov, 2009 by dimaks in Asides
Are you venturing for a career abroad? These days, you may get your employment through online portals. There are many countries that are now hiring through the internet. Plus, a lot of job search sites out there that you can utilize. For example, if you want to land a job in the United States, you may use the New York Job Search or for head on to the mighty Google and surf your heart out. Things to bear in mind though, that although online job searching can be convenient at some degree, there are also innate dangers waiting. If we have offline swindlers and fraudsters, much can be found of them in the virtual world. So be very careful of what website you trust.
Quite a few months ago or I think that was last year (?) – I can’t remember well, but a friend told me about his experience online. He almost fell on a trap and was very close to giving out his personal bank account information including his swipe code. Scary, but his doubt about someone asking for his swipe code online helped him big time. When he felt it, he immediately withdrew back and recollected his thoughts on the situation. Upon realization that he is being deluded, he did not reply to the deal anymore.

According to Richard Bolles, people only have a 1% chance of getting a job online. Most jobs are found through networking or by conducting informational interviews.

Ping-i,
that is an interesting piece of information. knowing the trend that many people nowadays, especially those with Internet access, are seemingly heavy users of online job portals, I think online sources is still the most immediate / primary place to check on.
