TOPIO, The Ping-Pong Machine

The International Robot Exhibition (IREX) for 2009 was held in Tokyo on the 30th of November. Worldwide robots manufacturers came to Japan to showcase their works of art in the technology domain. The venue was in Big Sight exhibition centre in Tokyo. Here is a photo during the opening ceremony of the 2009 IREX.
With both “Korea and Vietnam producing some of the most exciting inventions“, an eye-catching robot showcased was the ping-pong machine named, TOPIO.
TOPIO raises its arms and goads into a table tennis match against humans. With its complex technology, Ping-Pong machine TOPIO records an opponent’s ball-spin and trajectory then computers inside it reacts and supply the action to return the ball in the best way possible. Brilliant right? But seriously, he looked like The Terminator 
I think that in the future, I maybe able to buy a TOPIO and hone my skills in table tennis, lol. By then, I won’t be buying fat burners anymore.
