Forsaken Office Equipments

I just realized that after being away from my office for several years due overseas study, lots of things were seemingly left to oblivion. I mean, at least during the time when I was still in the Philippines, our basic equipments like network adapters, servers, data storage and such are constantly monitored and organized as needed. I even got a copy of the layout of the equipments, thus inventory and custodianship are not so tough to deal with.
When I came back for a return service, there are many changes already. Years seem to have soared away and I was amazed with the very good developments in the office. But at the back of this, I was equally saddened by the fact that some basic things have been left behind. Take for example our local area network (LAN) cables – they were very organized some 3 or 4 years ago and now, they look like tangled hair. I cannot even spot where a cable comes from and where does it end. Our network adapters, especially our beloved Linksys router is now useless due to heavy dusts that it accumulated over the years. Sadly no cleaning routine was done. And our data storage computers? Nah, they’re not ill-maintained but some of them were completely gone while some got chopped and stripped off of essential spare parts.
Oh well.. in the past days, whenever a network trouble occurs, it is hard to conduct a simple diagnosis. I am thinking that perhaps I can just suggest to buy new equipments and resurrect those forsaken equipments to life. And yes, buy new network cables; I should not forget
